Fall Bucket Lists 2017

I know that it’s still 90 degrees, and that it’s early September, but it’s September, people! That means only one thing: it’s almost fall and time for cooler weather! Despite what the calendar, and thermometer may say, I firmly believe that fall starts now and I’ve already gotten a jump start on my fall bucket lists. I’ve put together two lists, one general list and one specific to Virginia. Here they are!

The Fall Bucket List

Many of the items on my fall bucket list here are ones that I like to do every year, like attempt to make it through a haunted house and eat lots of pumpkin bread. But a few of these things are a bit of a stretch for me, like completing the gratitude journal and doing hiking and kayaking. The fall is a great time to do some of the things you love, but also grow a bit too in trying new things!

The Virginia Fall Bucket List

There is nothing more wonderful than fall in Virginia. It brings out all the best in the scenery, the festivals, and me too! Here are why some of these items made it on my Virginia Fall Bucket list.

Richmond Half Marathon

If you’re a runner, or have friends who are, you need to add the Richmond Half Marathon to your list of races. Set in November, the 8K, half, and full marathon run through the best parts of Richmond, VA. Starting on Broad Street and ending on Brown’s Island, right at the James River, this race has been nicknamed “America’s friendliest marathon,” and after running it you’ll see exactly why! This year I’m hoping to run the half marathon with my little brother for a epic follow up year to my first full marathon in Richmond in 2016!

Richmond Folk Festival

Richmond Folk Festival weekend might be my favorite weekend of the year. Three days worth of music from around the globe, excellent Richmond food trucks, and all the best RVA brews set on Brown’s Island with the iconic skyline and James River make this weekend a don’t miss for me. Completely free and family friendly, this festival really is for everyone. This video gives you just a glimpse at the best weekend in the fall.

An Occasion for the Arts

I’m a Williamsburg girl by birth, so I can’t forget to mention one of the biggest events held in good ol’ Williamsburg—An Occasion for the Arts. A mix of art and music held in Colonial Williamsburg, this is the event of the fall for the sleep town of Williamsburg. It’s always packed, always unique, and brings artists from around the nation to Virginia! And honestly, Williamsburg is an excellent place for a weekend getaway, so why not make it October 6-8 for An Occasion for the Arts.

What are your favorite fall bucket list items? Drop them in the comments because I’m always looking to add to my bucket list! And I hope you all are getting just as excited for fall as I am, after all, it is the best season!

I love fall! It’s already starting to cool down here in New England — so this is a great list to start working on! Thanks for sharing!
